Overview
TaleTok publishes original short horror drawn from existing legends rather than invented monsters. A typical cryptid or folklore piece stays close to the source: place, look, warning, and the rule people still tell.

Categories
Cryptids
Unconfirmed creatures from sighting culture and regional report: Bigfoot, Mothman, Chupacabra, the Beast of Bodmin Moor, the Fouke Monster, and others. These stories treat the witness account as the spine.
Urban legends
Stories that travel by rumor, school, road, and bathroom dare: Bloody Mary, Cropsey, the Mad Gasser of Mattoon, Black-eyed Children. The threat is social as much as physical. Someone told someone.
Folklore
Older spirit law: banshee, kappa, kelpie, tokoloshe, penanggalan, La Llorona, Krampus. These pieces keep the old rule in the last lines. The creature is not always the killer. Sometimes it only announces.
Cursed items
Objects that should not be catalogued, counted, worn, or sat in after dark. Volume 5 opened this door with Al Azif and the Voynich manuscript. A separate cursed-object book is planned so dolls, chairs, and stones do not sit on the same collage as river horses.
Scary places
Houses, stretches of road, lochs, ridges, and rooms that keep a reputation after the witness is gone. Wisner Road, Boggy Creek, Loch Ness, a cabin window on Gifford Pinchot, a ford behind a house in Gort.
One story can sit in two categories. Kelpie is folklore and a scary place. Bloody Mary is an urban legend and a room.
